The evenings are once more getting lighter and a lot of us can’t wait for Spring time to be here again. The tennis season, however, never stops and you will regularly find some hardy souls hurrying across the Brixworth baseline and whipping a backhand back over the net, if they’re lucky.
Whether you are just starting to play or you’ve been hitting since before the Borg McEnroe era, Brixworth Tennis Club caters for you. So, what do we offer?
Saturday morning see’s a flurry of activity as the Junior coaching sessions take place between 9.30 am and 12.30pm, then in the afternoon the club’s WhatsApp group lights up phone screens all over the village as players get ready for the Sunday AM Bash. There is always a good turnout of players and it would be great if we could get more to join in.
One Sunday a month there is a Round Robin Mixed Doubles tournament and this is always good fun as well as a great chance to meet and play with lots of different people.
Monday mornings is our Ladies Coaching session and it would be ace if we could get some more ladies from the village to join in. This is a 90 minute pay as you play session so you don’t need to be a club member to attend the first couple of times so why not give it a go? Break out your rusty racket and get active!
Tuesday evening is our Over 18s club night and Friday Night is our social club night but these only really start back up when day light allows it. Recently we have been booking courts at Kings Park to carry on the Friday Club Night and this has proved really popular.
Brixworth have also joined the Northants Lawn Tennis Summer League and starting in April we have 10 fixtures against other local clubs. Hopefully all goes well and we can report some good news in the near future.
Don’t forget that the tennis club are always on the lookout for volunteers to help with fundraising and tournaments. Don’t worry, you won’t have to join the committee but any extra help you feel you could offer would always be welcomed so don’t delay – Get In Touch!
